Ubuntu Touchpad Indicator Applet

If you have a Ubuntu powered laptop, and you would like the option of disabling the touchpad while connected to an external keyboard and mouse, Launchpad now offers an easy-to-use applet that allows you to do just this whenever you wish.

Touchpad-Indicator, once installed, will place an icon in your Ubuntu menu bar that will allow you to toggle your touchpad on or off at will, or you can also specify that the touchpad automatically be disabled when the presence of an external keyboard and mouse is detected.

Touchpad-Indicator is a no frills applet that does exactly as advertised - nothing more, and nothing less.

To get started using Touchpad Indicator, type the following into a Ubuntu terminal:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:atareao/atareao
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install touchpad-indicator

Once finished, you can launch Touchpad-indicator from the Unity Dash and go to Preferences from the system tray menu. You can also use the system tray menu to manually enable or disable the Touchpad, hide the app-indicator icon and to exit Touchpad-indicator.
