System 76 unveils Ubuntu laptopWednesday, February 07, 2007 System 76 has announced the official availability of Darter Ultra, a Ubuntu laptop. The base configuration of this Ubuntu laptop has all the necessary devices to fully appreciate one of the most used Linux distributions.
The price for the base version of this Ubuntu laptop is set to $995 USD. It is also possible to customize the Darter Ultra by modifying virtually everything. Being a Ubuntu laptop obviously the only available operating system is Ubuntu but all the rest (apart from the screen) is changeable. Speaking of this the Ubuntu laptop has a 13.3” widescreen display with a 1280x800 resolution. Two of the options that will be more used are the possibility to upgrade the CPU and the available RAM. The most powerful configuration of this Ubuntu laptop has a Core 2 Duo T7600 2.33GHz and 1.5GB of RAM. All the recent versions of the Ubuntu distribution have been praised for the responsiveness and the speed of the operating system. There are several other upgrades available and if all the options are added the price of the Darter Ultra stops just short of $2000 USD. However, even if you just need the base version, you will not be disappointed by the Ubuntu laptop performance. And you also have to add all the advantage of running the Ubuntu operating system. Lastly the Ubuntu laptop also sports a classy look with its white color. Furthermore it only weighs 4.3 pounds and the reduced size makes it is a perfect solution for those who use the laptop in small space (like for example during flights). Powered by dBLOGGER |
