Ubuntu updates PHP packagesFriday, February 08, 2008 Ubuntu security has become an issue now under the light of recent remote access attempts and security breaches. To take care of such events, the Ubuntu Linux Group has announced updates for their PHP packages.
These PHP updates are meant for security, and will protect the users from various issues like bypassing and remote exploits. As quoted from the people in Ubuntu Linux Group, the PHP update fixes the vulnerability of the system to certain stimulants. However, the group is not clear about the impact of these unknown weaknesses but they say these can be used by local users to bypass restrictions and by malicious programs to strip open the system for future attacks. The Ubuntu PHP updates are available online for download or via the packages available. The security update also applies to Kubuntu, Edubuntu, Xubuntu flavors. The Ubuntu community has requested people to install these updates on their systems as soon as possible, as these are very crucial updates -- even if a single user gets attacked, these attempts can spread to other users via one host.
